Polypropylene is currently one of the fastest growing polymers with foreseeable demand growth forecast to be twice the rate of growth of the GDP. Much of this growth is attributed to the ability of propylene polymers and copolymers to replace conventional materials (such as wood, glass, metal, etc.) and other thermoplastics at a lower cost. Lummus Novolen Technology GmbH (Novolen) licenses worldwide the Novolen® gas-phase polypropylene process (Novolen process) on the basis of Ziegler-Natta and metallocene catalysts for the production of a full range of polypropylene resins. This reliable and versatile process, which maintains a strong focus on health, safety and environmental issues, produces products meeting the requirements of the most demanding applications. The Novolen process features low total installed costs (TIC) and is very competitive in cash production costs. Novolen is an affiliated company to Lummus Technology, a CB&I company. It is possible to offer technology integration between propylene and polypropylene. Four processes aimed at producing or maximizing propylene from upstream refinery and petrochemical units can be offered in a package with the Novolen process benefiting from integration opportunities. |
